Cass County Government will form a County Cemetery Board to review general cemetery rules and procedures and provide oversight of property maintenance. The County Commission authorized formation of the Board at the September 5th Commission meeting.
Responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of abandoned cemeteries within a county is a statutory responsibility of that county. Required maintenance includes mowing once a year, restoring gravestones to their original placement, and performing any other general maintenance necessary to maintain the dignity and appearance of the grounds.
