Commissioner Tony Grindberg was elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2022 and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman.  His portfolios include the State's Attorney Office, Information Technology, County Recorder, and County Assessor. Current committee assignments include County Park Board, Road Advisory Committee, Personnel Overview Committee, Metro Flood Diversion Authority, Metro Flood Diversion Authority Finance Committee, Metro Flood Diversion Planning Committee, and the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation.

Grindberg served 22 years in the North Dakota State Senate, serving as Vice Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Republican Caucus leader and Senate President Pro Tempore. He served as Chairman of the North Dakota Economic and Workforce Development legislative committees and the Council of State Governments, Economic Development committee.  His tenure as a State Senator focused on issues important to North Dakota, including economic/workforce development legislation, higher education, strategic infrastructure investments, student scholarships, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and common-sense solutions for government. In 2013, he led the state legislative funding plan to begin the FM Flood Diversion project.

His public service experience also includes being elected one term as a Fargo City Commissioner from 2016 to 2020 His portfolios included, Planning & Development, Fargo Housing Authority and MetroCOG.

Grindberg has been recognized as Legislator of the Year, North Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education, the National Federation of Independent Business-Guardian of Small Business award, the North Dakota State Chamber of Commerce award for Education Partnership, the Alumnus of the Year award(s) from North Dakota State College of Science and West Fargo Public Schools and the Outstanding Young North Dakotan award.

Grindberg grew up in Mapleton, ND, has degrees in Business and Aviation from Minnesota State University-Moorhead and North Dakota State College of Science and Economic Development Certificate from the University of Oklahoma.  His professional career includes economic development, higher education and energy.  Tony and his wife Karen have three grown children.
